How it all started
I want to tell you what happened in the past and what the future is going to bring us. For more than 20 years
I have been flying to Thailand. I also have been a numerous times at the Baan Samui Resort, Koh Samui, and
I have always liked it.
Last May 2007 I spent my holiday there again, and I met our hotel mascots from
Baansamui Animalfriends,
Elton, Rosamunde, Macho and Süsse and also the little kittens. I took care of the animals every day.
They were fed, the were petted, we played with them, they just simply brought us a lot of joy.
Especially Elton grew very close to my heart. Tears were shed when we left, and we promised the animals that
we would not forget them, even if I had to leave now for Germany.
You have to know one thing. Those animals do NOT belong to the hotel. They don't have an owner who is responsible for them.
We solely thrive that those animals can live there without worries.
A short time after my return from Samui I received many mails from guests who had spent their vaccation in Koh Samui,
asking me if I could not put their animals from their hotel on our homepage too.
It quickly dawned on me that something had to happen, and we created a homepage especially dedicated to
animalfriendly hotels in Koh Samui.
Many of you will meet dogs without owners, begging for food on the beach and on the street, and will not know what
to do about this. There are no general rules even from the government, and in the past a lot of poisenings of animals
happened on the island, very much a negative aspect for this vacation paradise.
Then in July we started our new concept (we were 3 people now, Robby working on the web design and all technical
aspects, Edith for the translations and myself, Ulrike responsible for the contacts with the hotel managers,
research, marketing etc).
After 4 weeks of hard work there it was: the new homepage www.hotel.kosamui.com
On this hompage all animalfriendly hotels on Koh Samui will be listed. We hope for a large participation from
hotels and we get a lot of praise from the tourist branch, as well as from future guests.
All the animals of the listed hotels have been castrated and are vaccinated regularely.
There is no need to be afraid of possible diseases.
Unfortunately there have been poisenings in the past from part of the hotels, which are very horrible.
The food in part gets poisened with rate poisen or pieces of glass is put in it. We don't have to mention that
for the animals this is a very horriffic and slow death.
Very often guests complain because the animals seek shelter from this action on the hotel proberty and the guests
have to view this barberic action. No need to mention that for the guests that was the end of an enjoyable holiday.
Please join us to make this world just a little better. With our seal for an animal friendly hotel you post a sign for
a new start.
Please support us!
